Hi,
I'm not sure what's that problem, but I can give you few things you could focus on,
1) That XML file you've created will be probably ok because Surface Shell checks it before every start and in case of error it isn't loaded and displayed in menu, but still, here is XML that works for me: http://pastebin.com/t30UQ2zK (surfium.xml)
2) Are you sure that it's Surface SP1 Platform you are using? Surfium doesn't work (crashes) on platforms without SP1, but as far as I know, only SP1 version are available for sell.
3) There is pretty good Event logging by Surfium, it may tell you more about the problem.
You can try to review logs by using "Event Viewer" (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Open-Event-Viewer) and look at "Applications and Services Logs/Microsoft/Surface/Shell/Operational" (or try to do some error search in Applications and Services Logs/Microsoft/Surface/*)
4) You could paste here content of that Script prompt (cmd.exe I guess), maybe it could tell us more.
Hope it helps a bit.

hi finkky,

i had the same problem as fuserke. i tried saving the surfium folder in the programdata/microsoft/surface/ and programfiles/microsoft surface folders and then tried to register surfium by just copying the chess.xml file and tweaking it for surfium. it did show up in the launcher, but when i tried to launch it by touching it, it stalled my system... i then shut down the system and saw a run script prompt after exiting. any suggestions? i would love to have this working. it looks great!

Hi, to run the app on surface you only need it to open main binary when surface shell and surface input apliacation are running on the device. If you mean by "install" registering an application and displaying it in launch bar you can use this manual http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee804847(Surface.10).aspx to do it so.
Thank you for your interest
